The problem: hot VIP is just expensive GA

In Jamaica, the section with shade and bottle service still sits in 30°-plus night heat. When guests are sweating, they leave the cabana to find a breeze — and the moment they leave, they stop spending in it. The promoters who win the VIP game aren't just selling a rope and a couch; they're selling comfort you can't get in GA. Cold drinks are half of that. Cool air is the other half.

Meet the VEAC

The VEAC (Vankool Evaporative Air Conditioner) is a hybrid machine: it combines evaporative cooling with a real refrigeration circuit, so the air coming out is meaningfully colder than what a mist fan or a plain "swamp cooler" gives you. The numbers that matter for an event:

• Serious airflow — around 10,000 m³ of air per hour, enough to wash a whole seating area in moving, chilled air instead of a narrow fan stream.
• Covers 50–60 m² — roughly one large cabana or a small VIP section per unit.
• Plug & use — no installation, no ducting, no window unit. Roll it in, fill it, plug it into a regular outlet.
• ~1.2 kW draw — the maker rates it at roughly 60% less energy than conventional AC, so it won't fight your sound system for the generator.
• 120-litre water tank — sized to run deep into the night without a refill parade.

And unlike actual air conditioning, evaporative cooling wants to be outdoors. AC needs a sealed room; the VEAC works in exactly the open-air, tent-and-cabana setups Jamaican events are built on.

The promoter math: charge for the cool

Here's the part that matters for your bottom line. A cooled cabana isn't the same product as a hot one — so don't price it the same. Market the section as "climate-cooled VIP" and put a premium on it. If the cool tier earns you an extra J$5,000–J$10,000 per cabana — a modest ask when guests can feel the difference the second they step in — a single night covers the rental, and everything after that is margin.

The second-order effects are where the real money is: guests who are comfortable stay in the section longer, and guests who stay longer order the next bottle from your server instead of wandering to the bar. Cool air doesn't just sell the cabana — it keeps the spend inside it.

How to set it up

• One unit per cabana or VIP zone (50–60 m² each). For a long VIP strip, run units at each end blowing across the seating.
• Place it at the edge of the section, angled across where people actually sit — not straight at the DJ booth.
• Fill the tank before gates open. Cold water (or a scoop of our ice) in the tank drops the outlet air temperature further.
• Keep the sides of the tent open. Evaporative cooling works best with airflow moving through, which is exactly how cabanas are set up anyway.
