ONE BUILDING. ICE & LIQUOR.
Most bars in Kingston buy ice from one man, rum from another and a bin from somebody else — then spend Friday morning chasing all three. We built Ice Makers JA to end that. Here’s what runs out of 26 Hanover Street, and why it’s all under one roof.
The address is the whole idea
IceMakers Limited — Ice Makers JA to almost everybody — is a commercial ice plant and a liquor wholesaler in the same building. Not a distributor reselling somebody else’s ice. Not a liquor shop with a freezer in the corner. The ice is made on site from purified water, the liquor and beverages are stocked by the case behind it, and both go out on the same truck to the same customers.
That matters most on a Friday. A bar in Downtown, a shop on the corner, a promoter setting up a fete in St. Andrew — they all need the same things at the same time, and every extra supplier is another call that can go wrong. One address, one WhatsApp, one delivery.
The ice: made here, not bought in
We produce slow-melting 10-pound tube ice from reverse-osmosis purified water on a commercial plant at Hanover Street, with capacity for 1,000+ bags a day. Tube ice is hard, clear and cylindrical — it packs tighter in a cooler, drains slower, and it’s clean enough to go straight into the glass rather than just around the bottle.
Pricing steps down with volume, and bulk orders ride free:
10-lb tube ice bags (JMD)
- 200+ bags — bulk rate$300 / bag
- 50–199 bags — free delivery$350 / bag
- 10–49 bags$400 / bag
- Delivery on orders under 50 bags$5,000
Free delivery across Kingston, St. Andrew, Portmore and Spanish Town on 50 bags or more, and pickup at Hanover Street for the downtown trade. Every order goes through the online order form, which shows how much of that day’s production is still free before you commit.
The liquor: buy it, or take it on consignment
The newer half of the business is liquor, tobacco and beverages by the case — white overproof and aged rum, beer and stout, tonic wine, tobacco and grabba, energy drinks, and mixers and chasers. Trade rates, delivered with your ice. Registered buyers see live stock and case pricing any hour on the wholesale portal.
What makes it work for small shops is the second option. On consignment, you take the stock now and settle on agreed terms as it sells, and sealed, unopened stock that doesn’t move can come back for credit. For a bar that doesn’t want J$200,000 sitting on a shelf before Carnival, that’s the difference between a full bar and a thin one.
Everything else the party needs
The rental side started because customers kept asking for it while ordering ice. Now it’s a full event kit:
Bins & party rentals (JMD)
- KingKong bin — ~75 bags, 300+ guests$40,000
- Xtreme bin — ~45 bags, 150–300 guests$28,000
- Long Box bin — ~35 bags, 75–150 guests$20,000
- Cooling fans, per unit$10,000
- Party tables, per table$750
- Folding chairs, per chair$800
- Ice buckets, per bucket$250
Bins arrive packed to the brim and we collect after the event. A refundable J$25,000 damage deposit is payable at delivery and comes back when the bin does, and bins carry a +25% weekend rate Friday to Sunday. Weekends book out first, so pick your date early — the order form shows live availability for the day you choose.
And for venues with no current, we rent silent diesel generators — enough to run the sound system, lights, fans, fridges and the bar off one unit, delivered with the rest of your order. Not sure which one? Here’s how to size it.
Generator rental (JMD)
- 6.5 kW — day / weekend$9,000 / $20,000
- 6.5 kW — week / month$45,000 / $120,000
- 8 kW — day / weekend$12,000 / $26,000
- 8 kW — week / month$58,000 / $150,000
Sell our ice, keep the markup
If you run a gas station, a wholesale or a spot in a plaza, there’s a third way to work with us. We place a branded DC-380 freezer box at your location, restock it at wholesale, and service the machine ourselves. The freezer stays ours — no repair bills on your side — and you keep the markup on every bag you sell. Terms are a one-year renewable agreement against an agreed sales target. How the vendor programme works.
Built downtown, on purpose
We could have set up in an industrial park. We chose Hanover Street because Downtown Kingston is where our customers are and where the business belongs. Ice Makers JA is part of the Downtown Kingston Redevelopment Initiative and its Keep It Clean movement, working with other local businesses to bring the heart of the city back.
As DKRI chair Michael McMorris put it, Keep It Clean is more than a programme — it’s a movement. A clean, working downtown is good for every shop on the strip, ours included.
How to order
WhatsApp is fastest, especially for a same-week event, and the office line is open during the day. Wholesale buyers can also work through the online portal for catalog pricing and repeat orders. We run seven days a week.
Bulk tube ice, liquor by the case or on consignment, bins, fans and generators — delivered across Kingston, St. Andrew, Portmore and Spanish Town.
