WHERE TO BUY ICE IN DOWNTOWN KINGSTON
Short answer: 26 Hanover Street. That’s where the ice is made, so it’s where the ice is cheapest, coldest and always in stock. Here’s how to find us, what you can walk out with, and why bars and shops downtown buy their liquor here too.
Finding us
We’re on Hanover Street in the heart of Downtown Kingston, a few minutes from Parade, the waterfront and Coronation Market. Look for the Ice Makers sign on the building. Pull up outside and someone will come out to you; for a big load we bring the bags to the vehicle.

What you can walk out with
10-pound bags of tube ice
Made here, not trucked in. Our tube ice is produced on a commercial plant from reverse-osmosis purified water, so it’s clear, hard, slow to melt and clean enough to go in the glass. Because you’re buying at the plant, the volume tiers apply from the first bag:
Tube ice, per 10-lb bag (JMD)
- 10–49 bags$400
- 50–199 bags$350
- 200+ bags — the bulk rate$300
- Delivery across Kingston on 50+ bagsFree
A cooler, already packed with ice
For a party, a road trip or a stall, skip the loose bags and take a rental cooler that leaves full. Three sizes: Small (65 L, 6–8 bags, $5,500), Medium (135 L, 14–16 bags, $10,000) and Large (19–23 bags, $15,000), ice included. A refundable deposit is paid at pickup and comes back with the cooler.
Liquor, beer, drinks and tobacco by the case
The same building is a liquor and beverage wholesaler. White overproof and aged rum, beer and stout, tonic wine and rum cream, energy drinks, chasers and mixers, and tobacco and grabba — by the case, at trade prices, loaded next to your ice.
Why our wholesale prices stay affordable
We don’t buy through a middleman. Ice Makers JA holds trade accounts directly with Jamaica’s main distributors, so the case price you pay at Hanover Street is close to the price the big supermarkets pay — and because the ice is made on site, we don’t need a fat margin on the drinks to keep the lights on.
Wray & Nephew White Overproof, Appleton Estate, Wray & Nephew Rum Cream, Magnum Tonic Wine and Campari — the rum shelf every Jamaican bar starts with.
Boom Energy, WATA, Bigga and the rest of the Wisynco beverage range — the chasers and energy drinks that move fastest on a Friday night.
Lasco’s drink range for shops, bars and events, at case rates you can resell from.
Imported spirits, wine and bar supplies from Jamaica’s largest food-and-beverage distributor, for the top shelf and the mixers behind it.
Plus Red Stripe, Heineken, Guinness and Dragon Stout, Rum Bar overproof, Sangster’s, Smirnoff, Ting and Red Bull. Registered buyers see the full catalog with live stock and case prices on the wholesale portal, any hour. For a bar that doesn’t want to tie up cash before a big weekend, approved accounts can take stock on consignment and settle as it sells.
Who buys ice downtown, and how
- Bars and rum shops — a standing order (daily, weekly or every two weeks) through the portal, so the ice and the cases arrive without anyone remembering to call.
- Market and street vendors — early pickup of 10–50 bags for the drinks cart, the fish stall or the produce table. Tube ice lasts longer under a tarpaulin than pond ice does.
- Promoters and event crews — a filled cooler or two for the small fete, or 200+ bags at the bulk rate for the big one, with generators, fans, tables and chairs on the same order.
- Households — a cooler for the beach or the nine night, picked up on the way out of town.
Pickup or delivery?
Pickup is free and fastest. Delivery is $5,000 across Kingston, St. Andrew, Portmore and Spanish Town, and free on 50 bags or more or any order over J$50,000. Either way, the price of the ice itself is the same, so if you’re downtown anyway, come collect and save the delivery fee.
Questions people ask before they drive down
Do I need to order ahead, or can I just come?
Walk in for small amounts. For 50 bags or more, or on a Friday or Saturday, order ahead online or on WhatsApp so the bags are stacked and waiting.
Can I get a cooler filled to take away?
Yes. Rent a Small, Medium or Large cooler and it leaves packed with ice. Pay the refundable deposit at pickup; it comes back when the cooler does.
Do you sell to the public or only wholesale?
Both. Anyone can buy ice. Liquor and beverages by the case are sold to registered wholesale buyers; registering takes a couple of minutes on the portal.
Is the ice safe to put in drinks?
Yes. It’s made from reverse-osmosis purified water on commercial equipment and bagged on site, so it goes in the glass, not just around the bottle.
Tell us how many bags and when. We’ll have them stacked, or bring them to you.
